Nothing on this website is a contract — I only ever work from a signed written agreement, and I am never paid anything until after the State has paid you.
Who I am, and what I am not
Christopher Haneul Lee is a sole proprietor working as an independent unclaimed-property investigator, registered with the California State Controller's Office since January 2021 (registered name: Haneul Lee). I am not the State Controller's Office, not a court, not a bank or insurer, and not any other government or official body, and I am not endorsed by any of them. A letter or email from me is not a bill, a summons, or a legal notice.
I am not a lawyer and this is not a law firm. Nothing I say or publish is legal, tax, financial or investment advice, and reading this site or contacting me does not create an attorney-client relationship. For a complicated estate, a disputed inheritance or a tax question, please talk to your own attorney or tax adviser.
I do not represent you in court or in probate, and I do not choose, hire, pay or direct a lawyer for you. My work is finding the property and preparing the State's claim paperwork. If you want a lawyer, you choose your own.
This website is information, not an offer
The pages here describe what I do in general terms. They are not an offer, a contract, a guarantee, or a promise about your particular property. The only thing that governs work I do for you is the written agreement you sign, which states the specific property, the fee, and your right to claim it yourself for free. If anything on this website conflicts with that signed agreement, the signed agreement controls.
Sending the contact form, calling or emailing does not hire me and does not obligate either of us. It starts a conversation.
Fees
- Nothing upfront, ever. No retainer, no filing charge, no expenses. I pay my own costs, including notary fees.
- Contingent only. I am paid only after the State has actually paid you. If the State pays nothing, you owe nothing.
- 10% maximum on your own property, which is the limit California law allows for this kind of claim, calculated on what the State actually pays.
- 20% on a probated estate claim, where heirship and court records must be proven. California law sets no statutory cap for this category; my fee is disclosed in writing before you sign anything.
No guarantee of outcome
I cannot and do not guarantee that a claim will be approved, how much the State will pay, or how long it will take. Those decisions belong to the State Controller's Office and, for estates, to the court. What I offer is careful work on the filing and honest answers about your chances before you decide.
Accuracy of what is published here
Figures about California's unclaimed property come from the State Controller's Office and the news reports cited on the home page, and they change over time. Property listed under a name similar to yours is not proof that the money is yours — only the State can confirm that. I keep this site current to the best of my ability but do not warrant that every figure or link is error-free or up to date, and I am not responsible for the content of any website I link to.
Using this site
Please do not use the contact form to send Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, passwords or images of identity documents; I do not need them to answer a question, and ordinary email is not a secure channel. Please do not submit information about someone else without their knowledge, and please do not use the form to send advertising, solicitations, or automated submissions. I may decline to work with anyone, and I may remove or ignore abusive submissions.
How I contact people, and in what order, is set out on the home page: I reach out by mail first. If you call, write or send the form, you are asking me to reply by the method you gave, and I will. I do not cold call and I do not send text messages. Ask me to stop at any time and I will, immediately and permanently.
The text, design, photographs and code on this site are mine and are protected by copyright. You are welcome to read, print and share the pages for your own use; please do not copy them into another business's website.
Limits
This website is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of this website or from information published on it. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot be limited under California law, including liability for fraud, and nothing here takes away a right the law gives you as a consumer.
Governing law
These terms, and any dispute about them or about this website, are governed by the law of the State of California, with venue in Orange County, California. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. I may update these terms; the version posted here on the date you use the site is the one that applies.

수수료
- 선불은 없습니다. 착수금, 제출 비용, 경비 청구가 없습니다. 공증 비용을 포함한 제 비용은 제가 부담합니다.
- 지급된 뒤에만 받습니다. 주정부가 실제로 지급한 뒤에만 받습니다. 지급이 없으면 내실 것도 없습니다.
- 본인 명의 재산은 최대 10%입니다. 캘리포니아법상 이런 청구의 상한이며, 주정부가 실제로 지급한 금액을 기준으로 계산합니다.
- 검인 유산 청구는 20%입니다. 상속 관계와 법원 기록 증명이 필요한 경우로, 법정 상한은 없으나 서명 전에 서면으로 밝힙니다.
결과를 보증하지 않습니다
청구의 승인 여부, 지급 금액, 소요 기간은 보증할 수 없습니다. 이는 주 회계감사관실과, 유산의 경우 법원이 결정합니다. 제가 드리는 것은 꼼꼼한 청구 준비와, 결정하시기 전에 가능성에 대한 솔직한 설명입니다.
게시 내용의 정확성
캘리포니아 미청구 재산 관련 수치는 주 회계감사관실과 첫 페이지에 표시된 언론 보도에서 가져온 것이며 시간이 지나면 달라집니다. 성함과 비슷한 이름으로 재산이 올라 있다는 사실만으로 그 돈이 본인 것이라는 증명이 되지는 않으며, 확인은 주정부만 할 수 있습니다. 최선을 다해 최신 내용을 유지하지만 모든 수치와 링크의 정확성을 보증하지 않으며, 링크된 외부 사이트의 내용에 대해서는 책임지지 않습니다.
사이트 이용
문의 양식으로 사회보장번호(SSN), 계좌번호, 비밀번호, 신분증 사진을 보내지 마십시오. 답변에 필요하지 않으며 일반 이메일은 안전한 경로가 아닙니다. 본인이 모르는 타인의 정보를 보내지 마시고, 광고·영업·자동 전송 용도로 사용하지 마십시오. 저는 업무를 거절할 수 있으며, 악용된 문의는 무시하거나 삭제할 수 있습니다.
연락 방식은 첫 페이지에 적힌 대로입니다. 먼저 우편으로만 연락드립니다. 전화·이메일·양식을 주시면 알려 주신 방법으로 답변드립니다. 모르는 번호로 먼저 전화하지 않으며 문자 메시지도 보내지 않습니다. 언제든 중단을 요청하시면 즉시, 영구히 중단합니다.
