Privacy Policy
Effective October 13, 2026. 한국어 안내는 아래에 있습니다.
The short version. I do not sell, rent or share your personal information with anyone for money or for advertising. I use your information only to find you, tell you about property the State of California is holding in your name, and — if you ask me to — file your claim. Tell me to stop and I will stop, permanently.
Who is responsible
Christopher Haneul Lee, an independent unclaimed-property investigator registered with the California State Controller's Office since January 2021 (registered name: Haneul Lee). Mailing address (a mailbox, not an office): 201 E Center St Ste 112-3684, Anaheim, CA 92805. Email: contact@ockorclaims.com. Phone: (657) 298-9786. I am a sole proprietor, not a government agency.
Where my information about you comes from
- The State's public unclaimed-property file published by the California State Controller's Office at claimit.ca.gov: name, last reported address, holder, property type and amount. This is public record.
- Public records and people-search websites, used only to work out a current mailing address and to confirm I have the right person: address history, approximate age and relatives' names.
- Court records for probated estates (public record).
- You, if you write, call, or send the form on this site.
I do not buy data from grey-market sources, and I do not collect more than I need to reach you and confirm your identity. I do not look for or keep your Social Security number, bank details or financial accounts before you become a client, and I never ask for a password or a bank login at any point.
What this website collects
- The contact form: your name, your phone number and/or email, the reference number from your letter if you have one, your chosen topic, and anything you write in the message box. That is all it asks for, and all of it goes to one place: my email inbox.
- Standard server records. This site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps ordinary technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and reliability. See Netlify's own privacy notice at netlify.com/privacy (opens in a new tab).
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no third-party cookies. The only things this site stores in your browser are your display choices: language (English or 한국어) and, if you use the controls, text size and light or dark mode. They stay on your own device so the page opens the way you set it. Nothing is sent to me and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
Do Not Track. Because this site does not track visitors across other websites, there is nothing for a Do Not Track browser signal to switch off, and the site does not change its behavior when it receives one. No other company is allowed to collect information about your activity on this site over time or across other websites.
How I use it
- To tell you that the State is holding property that appears to be yours.
- To answer your question, by the method you asked for.
- If you sign a written agreement with me: to prepare, file and follow up on your claim with the State Controller's Office, including the documents the State requires.
- To keep the records California requires me to keep, and to maintain my do-not-contact list.
I will not use your information for any other purpose without asking you first.
Who else sees it
I do not sell or rent your personal information, and I do not share it for advertising or for any other business's own use. It is seen only by:
- Service providers who run the plumbing and may only act on my instructions: Netlify (this website and the contact form) and Google (the Gmail account that receives it).
- The California State Controller's Office, and for an estate claim the relevant court — but only for a claim you have hired me to file, and only the documents that claim requires.
- A notary, where the State requires a notarized signature.
- Anyone the law requires, such as a valid subpoena or court order.
How long I keep it
Signed agreements, disclosures, mailers and contact logs are kept for at least five years, and then securely destroyed. If you ask me never to contact you again, I keep the minimum needed to honor that — your name and address on a do-not-contact list — because deleting it entirely would mean a future mailing could reach you again by mistake.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS. Client files and research results live on my own encrypted computer, not on a shared drive or a public link. I do not send Social Security numbers, account numbers or identity documents by ordinary email, and I ask you not to either — please do not put any of those in the contact form. No method of storage or transmission is perfect, and I cannot promise absolute security.
Your choices
- Stop contacting me. Say so by phone, email, the form on this site or a note in the mail, and you are removed immediately and permanently. No reason needed, no questions asked.
- See what I have. Ask, and I will tell you what information about you I hold and where it came from.
- Correct it. Tell me what is wrong and I will fix it.
- Delete it. Ask, and I will delete what I hold, except records California law requires me to keep about a claim I actually filed for you, and the minimum do-not-contact entry described above.
I honor these requests from anyone who asks, whether or not a particular privacy statute applies to a business of my size, and I will not treat you differently for asking. I may need to confirm you are who you say you are before acting on a request about a specific person's records. Expect a reply within 45 days, usually much sooner. To make a request, use any of the contact details above.
I do not sell or share your personal information — including as "sale" and "sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising" are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act — and I have not done so in the past twelve months. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes I will post the new version here with a new date at the top. Material changes will also be mentioned in correspondence with current clients.
